Welcome to West Hill Primary School. We are a vibrant and successful school situated in the lovely village of West Hill near Ottery St Mary, Devon. We have 7 classes from Reception to Year 6 (4-11 year olds). All children in each class are in the same age range.

At West Hill Primary School our vision is to be a school where everyone shines and we achieve this through our six termly values. Our children receive high quality teaching and this is evident in our end of year results which are well above national expectations.

We believe in an effective triangulation process between home, school and child where everybody is working closely together. Parents and carers are encouraged to take part in their children’s education and are welcome into school whenever possible.

We are proud to have received very positive feedback during our April 2026 Ofsted inspection. Inspectors stated that ‘pupils, staff, parents and carers are proud of their school.’ They found that ‘Pupils are consistently polite and behave well. They enjoy coming to school. Pupils are safe and say they feel safe. The wider curriculum is well planned for pupils to build their knowledge and skills progressively. Pupils achieve well at West Hill Primary School. Published outcomes at the end of Year 6 exceed national averages for all groups of pupils.’

We politely request that you try not to bring children to these parent tours, these sessions are information heavy and very much aimed at the grown-ups! If you choose our school for your child next year, then they will be invited to our child focused settling in sessions in the Summer term!
